This privacy policy explains how MotorHarbour handles personal information when you browse the marketplace, create an account, advertise a vehicle, contact a seller, request a valuation or use a vehicle-checking service.
Information we collect
We may collect your name, email address, telephone number, postcode, account details, profile image, vehicle advert information, enquiry messages and technical information needed to keep the service secure. Payment providers, finance providers and other third parties have their own privacy policies when you choose to use their services.
How we use information
We use information to operate accounts, publish and moderate adverts, send buyer enquiries, answer support requests, prevent misuse, improve the marketplace and meet legal obligations. We only use information for marketing where we have an appropriate lawful basis and you can change your preferences.
Who receives information
Buyer enquiry details are shared with the seller of the relevant vehicle. We may also use trusted hosting, email, security and vehicle-data suppliers that process information on our behalf. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and service data
MotorHarbour may use essential cookies for sign-in, security and saved preferences. Analytics cookies should only be used in line with the consent choices presented on the website.
Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose collected, account administration, dispute handling, fraud prevention and legal compliance. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on applicable UK data-protection law, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability of your personal information. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

PayPal payments and subscriptions
When you renew an advert, subscribe to Seller Plus or choose a dealer advertising plan, PayPal processes the payment. MotorHarbour receives transaction and subscription identifiers, payment status, amount and account contact details needed to provide the service, prevent duplicate processing, handle support and meet accounting or legal obligations. MotorHarbour does not receive or store your full card or bank details.
PayPal processes personal information under its own privacy statement.
Closest-vehicle location search
If you choose to use your current location, your browser asks permission and sends rounded latitude and longitude coordinates with the vehicle search. They are used to calculate approximate distances and are not added to your MotorHarbour account. Vehicle advert postcodes are sent to the Postcodes.io service to obtain approximate postcode-centre coordinates for matching.
